I’m thrilled and honored to be one of the winners of the PDN Photo Annual 2015 in the self-promotion category. The four winning images are from a series I created of ballet dancers from the Dance Theatre of Harlem. I chose the Dance Theatre of Harlem for this series after hearing a story on NPR. It was about the few numbers of mulitcultural ballet dancers in the US. I look forward to seeing more ballet dancers of different ethnicities continuing to succeed. As Virginia Johnson, the artistic director of DTH said so well, “Ballet is not for the faint of heart. It is about aiming for and maintaining the highest standards. Excellence is a human capacity unrestricted by ethnicity.” To see the winning images click here.
